Join Barbara Green of Adirondack Green House Basketry for an Adirondack Pack Basket making workshop. Participants will weave a full-sized Pack Basket, approximately 18” tall. They will make their packs in the same manner as original packs were made using reed rather than black or brown ash.

Solid wood skids and an interior wooden base hold the harness in place. There will be a selection of harness colors to choose from. The top of the basket will be finished with a sewn in handle before applying the rim.

When dried, the harness, skids, and base are applied. Students will be shown how to do this. After the workshop, you can stain the basket and wooden components at home and will be given instructions with the class materials.

• All materials (except stain) and tools will be provided.
• Participants are welcome to bring food, drinks, and snacks for the day. Museum admission is included in the workshop fee. (Please note that basket completion takes about 7 hours.)
• Comfortable shoes are recommended.
• Registered participants must meet in the ADKX Visitor Center at 8:45.
